Project 5 – Nature Aquarium 2016

I promised myself to renovate my little tank once a year. This year I decided to go for the Nature Aquarium Style.

This style was pioneered by the legendary Takashi Amano. Frankly, I don’t like it as much as the mountain style but it is Amano himself that I respect. He was the Steve Jobs of the aquarium community. Unfornately, he passed away a couple of years ago, similar to Jobs.

The aquascape was incredibly simple. I bought a few pieces of wood cheaply and picked the one suited my tank the most. Then I attach mosses around the wood using the fishing nets. The wood had to be fixed to the bottom of the aquarium to prevent floatation. The rest of the aquascape was covered with one type of plant i.e. glosso. Shrimps were the only animal in this setup. That’s it.

The end result was quite impressive. It remains simple and minimal as I have always wish my tank to be.
